Why Every Child Needs Music

Preschool music isn’t about being cute — it’s about building brains. At Imagine Cincinnati, we weave music into our morning songs inspired by our friend Rachel Kramer who leads Baldwin Music Education Center.

Rachel Kramer (or "Kramer” as the kids call her) joins us for a week “Care-Free Playgroups” every August.

If you don’t know about Baldwin Music, you should. For babies through 5-year-olds, every class that “Kramer" leads is intentionally sequenced to help children grow their language, focus, memory, emotional regulation, and early learning skills in age-appropriate ways. Singing, movement, repetition, and listening do real cognitive work—even when they look playful.

These classes are just as crucial as preschool—and at the very least, they are co-curricular, reinforcing the foundational skills children need to thrive in any early learning environment.

Baldwin Music Education Center is Cincinnati's oldest preschool music program, with over 60 years of experience. Kramer is a professional music educator who teaches every class with her own unique, research-informed curriculum that addresses every aspect of cognitive and emotional development - and the kids love it.

The most important thing we want you to know about these classes - starting at age 2 you can drop your child off for class and get a 45 minute break to yourself! It’s a great way to introduce your child to social spaces without you and prepare them (and you) for preschool.

Spring Term began February 4 and a few spots are still available.
Classes are offered 7 days a week all year round. Summer camps may be offered this year too.

Music education that actually matters.
