We’re inviting all our families to an evening designed to help school aged parents and caregivers better understand how our children learn to read and how we can support them along the way.
Our friend Sarah Kleymeyer has visited playgroups and taught these ideas for 0-4 year olds. For this event, she’ll expand on the science of reading approach taught in all of Ohio’s public schools for Kindergarten-6th grade. We believe these are amazing tools that parents should have long before their kids step foot in a school building. So we’re inviting you to join us in our local neighborhood school as the Pleasant Ridge Montessori PTO hosts Sarah’s parent workshop “Understanding How Kids Learn to Read.”
Imagine Cincinnati playgroup parents assembled over 30 take-home literacy kits last week to support this event. You’ll walk away from this workshop with effective hands-on tools, learn the early signs of learning challenges, and get an overview of school-based support that is offered to all kids in our public school district starting at age 3 (regardless of whether they attend a public preschool.) Come learn about these important skills and resources.
The event will take place in the library of Pleasant Ridge Montessori (5945 Montgomery Rd), park in back of the school and enter through the doors with an awning.
